UtilX® joins forces with Dow Corning to improve power distribution reliability

Power cable reliability specialists UtilX® Corporation and global silicones leader Dow Corning Corporation, have announced a new business collaboration to help power companies and other cable owners improve the reliability of their power distribution systems. The agreement is an extension of a successful relationship between the two companies established more than 20 years ago.

The collaboration will bring together UtilX’s expertise in developing and applying technologies that extend the life of power cables with Dow Corning’s expertise in material science and silicone manufacturing.

As part of the relationship, UtilX may use the Powered by Dow CorningTM brand on packaging, commercial and technical information for all UtilX rejuvenation fluids. Dow Corning will continue to provide UtilX with exclusive use of its proven cable rejuvenation fluids and act as sole manufacturer of all rejuvenation fluids developed by UtilX. This includes DMDB, the latest generation CableCURE® injection fluid. Originally developed to meet demanding European standards, DMDB is now available domestically and worldwide as an exclusive injection option for UtilX customers.

The extended relationship will help make it more convenient for power utility companies to take advantage of silicone injection technology to assist in extending the life of their power cables and reducing the problem of unscheduled outages.
