Fiber-Line launches new portfolio of cable components protected by DuPont™ Kevlar® fiber

DuPont and Fiber-Line® Inc. are collaborating to bring a new protective solution to better connect the world. Protected by the durability, flexibility and lightweight strength of DuPont™ Kevlar® fibers, Fiber-Line has launched a new portfolio of cable components for broadband communications and above-ground installations. With its patented Swellcoat® technology, Fiber-Line’s new products eliminate water penetration, thus ensuring continued, reliable information flow.
 
Fiber optic cables, used primarily for broadband and other telecommunications applications, account for more than half of the Kevlar® used by Fiber-Line.
 
The company’s products for above-ground cables are made with DuPont™ Kevlar® AP, which provides 15 percent more strength and 15 percent less stretch to the cable – critical to the protection of people and property during ice storms. The same amount of material will produce 15 percent more strength with less cable sag.
 
Fiber-Line estimates that the fiber optic cable industry alone is growing at more than 30 percent per year in key growth markets such as Russia, Latin America and China.
