Implementation of Investment Projects in the Russian Polymer Market

     Positive trends in the Russian polymer market and rising prices (mainly owing to the expansion of the construction and packaging industries) have allowed the Russian polymer manufacturers to redirect their deliveries from external markets to the Russian one. In 2002-2006, the average annual increase of the domestic markets of polyethylene, polypropylene, and polyvinylchloride amounted to 12.7%, 16.3%, and 26.4% respectively. Nonetheless, planning investment activity, they should take into account a number of factors including cases of excess supply in the market of traditional plastics. The article considers the possibility of building manufacturing facilities for new types of polyethylene in the Russian market as well.
