The First International Conference Aromatics 2007

     On 17 November, the First International Conference Aromatics 2007 was held by Creon CJSC in the Baltschug Kempinski Hotel in Moscow. The conference was attended by nearly 70 representatives of Russian and foreign companies, including the manufacturers of petroleum and coke benzenes, toluene, xylene and other aromatic hydrocarbons; the largest consumers of aromatics for the production of caprolactam, styrene, phenol, nitrobenzene, etc.; the companies offering their services in the field of engineering and technologies as well as traders and transportation companies. Provision of Russian plants by the necessary amount of benzene depends on the world trends for benzene-based products (caprolactam, phenol). As soon as world prices for these products rise, it becomes impossible to buy benzene within Russia. According to experts, the problem of benzene deficit should be solved with governmental support directed to the domestic benzene producers.
