The First International Conference MTBE 2007

     On 15 October, Creon CJSC held I International Conference MTBE 2007 in the Baltschug Kempinski Hotel in Moscow. The forum was attended by Continental Industries Group, VNII NP JSC (All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Processing), Gazprom Export Ltd, Kauchuk JSC (the city of Volzhskij, the Volgograd Region), Korimos JSC, Lisichansk Oil and Investment Company, Rohm and Haas (UK) Ltd (representative office), Salavatnefteorgsintez JSC, Sibur, Technohim CJSC, Ukrtatnafta JSC, Ecooil CJSC, Yarsintez JSC and many other companies. The key issue raised at the conference was the possibility that Russian and Ukrainian producers will shift from MTBE to ETBE. The participants of the conference agreed that it is too early to speak about the complete switch to ETBE in Russia and the CIS countries. However, some companies are already making attempts to put this idea into practice.
