The Ukrainian Market for Formaldehyde-based Synthetic Resins

Having different physical and chemical properties, formaldehyde-based synthetic resins find a broad application in the building and chemical industryThe most commonly known is a phenol-formaldehyde (PF) resin that can be of novolac (thermoplastic) and resole (thermosetting) types. Novolacs are resins soluble in polar solvents (alcohols, ketones) and capable of being repeatedly softened by heat and hardened by cooling. Undoubtedly, the Ukrainian market for the formaldehyde-based resins shows promising prospects. However, it is not only increasing the number of new players that has boosted the domestic market. National producers have expanded production capacities and enriched their product portfolios with new trade marks. Moreover, export sales of resins are soaring. The overall output of resins in Ukraine has improved as a result of increasing demand for these products.
