The CIS Production of PigmentsThe pigment is a substance consisting of small particles practically insoluble in the applied medium and used on account of its colouring, protective, or magnetic properties. The current business environment in the CIS pigments market is complicated, but by no means hopeless. The increasing demand for polymers and paints leads to stricter quality specifications for pigment raw materials. In this respect, imports of dye concentrates and pigment pastes have skyrocketed recently. The CIS pigment manufactures are gripped in a vice between advanced higher-value Western brands and low-cost Indian and Chinese products with questionable quality. Under the circumstances, the local companies have to exploit new outlets (including neighboring countries), acquire and incorporate assets, and close up or upgrade their manufacturing facilities. Some have been quite successful in doing this.
