Phosphorite Meal Production in Russia![]() Phosphorite meal is an environmentally friendly mineral fertiliser used throughout Russia and the CIS. It is obtained by grinding phosphate rock — deposited rocks formed mainly by minerals of the apatite group — phosphate nodules, shells, and a number of karst-type phosphorites or products of their beneficiation. In 2010, the output of this fertiliser in Russia amounted to 13,700 tonnes. The growing domestic agricultural industry requiring more and more efficient fertilisers gives wonderful opportunities for Russian phoshorite meal producers to raise their production at a quick pace.
