Underhood chemicals: Russian market of additives to motor fuels and oils
Foreign manufacturers play the main role at the Russian market of fuel additives. Domestic companies, though not so active, also make their contribution. In particular, All-Russian Scientific and Research Institute of Oil Refining OJSC is engaged in the development of new fuel additives. Currently, ARSRIOR is developing an anti-wear additive to jet fuels and an anti-static additive to fuels and hydrocarbon liquids. Manufacturing these products is expected in 2014. The only producer of fuel antioxidants in Russia is Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant OJSC. The company's portfolio comprises antioxidants Agidol (alkylphenols) useful over a wide range of applications. Their output totals 17,000–18,000 tonnes. According to ARSRIOR, the domestic demand for fuel antioxidants (mainly Agidol-12) makes up several dozen tonnes.
