Turpentine as a Solvent for Resins: Production in Russia

Demand for turpentine in Russia is met mainly by domestic producers. Turpentine is made by the following companies: Vologda Wood-Chemical Plant CJSC, Orgkhim Biochemical Holding OJSC, Orgsyntez JSC, etc. Sulphate and sulphite turpentine are manufactured by the following pulp and paper plants: Pitkyaranta Pulp Plant JSC nd Selenginskiy Pulp and Cardboard Plant JSC. Apart from Russia, in the CIS countries, turpentine is made by Belarus and Ukraine. According to the Russian Federal State Statistics Service, in 2012, Russian producers manufactured 7,093 tonnes of turpentine, which represents a 8.3% YOY decline against 2011, when it totalled 7,736 tonnes (#5, 2013 (77)).
