Being one of the leading countries in oil and gas production, Russia cannot boast of great achievements in its refinery and petrochemicals industry. Two decades after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the need to modernise the refining sector and increase both output capacity and refining quality is clear. Demand within Russia for higher quality oil products is increasing. Therefore, the Russian authorities are keen to take advantage of its vast oil and gas resources by using the full value chain.
