In the CIS countries, elemental selenium is manufactured in Russia (three key plants), Kazakhstan (2), and Uzbekistan. Russian makers account for the lion’s share of the selenium output. The three Russia-based selenium-manufacturing companies are Kyshtym Electrolytic Copper Plant CJSC, Uralelektromed JSC, Norilsk Nickel Mining and Metallurgical Company JSC .

According to Russian Federal State Statistics Service, the domestic output of elemental selenium last year fell by 5.6% over 2011 and amounted to 187 tonnes.
