A time to gather bottles. Prospects for the global PET market![]() Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is probably the only polymer used to feed and dress mankind. It is employed to manufacture fibres for household and technical purposes, plastic bottles and other packaging and wrapping materials, products for the automotive and engineering industries and electrical engineering and electronics. The textile industry accounts for roughly 65% of the global consumption of PET. In 2012, the Russian production capacity of PET amounted to 532,000 tpy. Alco-Naphtha OJSC (Kaliningrad) is the largest PET producer, which can annually make 220,000 tpy. However, the company is currently using 60-65% of its capacities.
