Global Production and Market of Tungsten Compounds![]() Tungsten is a chemical element with the atomic number 74. It is a strategically important metal in many industries. And its irreplaceability in most areas ensures a constant demand for it. More than 80% of world's tungsten production falls on China. In 2010, China extracted 59,000 tonnes of W, and as estimated, 60,000 tonnes in 2011. Russia ranks the second largest producer with 4.3% of global production. Even though China still remains the main tungsten supplier, everything may change within the nearest future.
