Chlorosulphonated PE
Chlorosulphonated polyethylene (CSPE) is an elastomer produced in a shape of granules. CSPE-based materials are used to provide protective films with a high flexibility, as crack-resistant paints and varnishes for reinforced concrete, metals and other materials, in the automobile industry and other spheres of industry. As of 2008, the global chlorosulphonated polyethylene capacity made up over 40,000 tpy. Until the year 2009, the largest world’s CSPE manufacturer was DuPont Performance Elastomers. Currently, there are other market leaders and more new capacities are under construction. When the construction is completed, a total CSPE capacity will account for 15,000 – 20,000 tpy worldwide. This issue presents the current trends of the CSCE market, geography of its consumption and production status in the CIS and worldwide.
