Ammonium nitrate is a highly concentrated nitrogen fertiliser used in the production of explosives. The market share of the global ammonium nitrate consumption relegated to the industrial sector is 15-20%.
During the economic crises the demand for ammonium nitrate from the agricultural sector accelerated considerably all over the world, while, having been defined as an explosive substance, it has been banned from sales at large marketplaces.
The CIS and Northern America are the leading ammonium nitrate manufacturers. Every year 20-25% of the produced ammonium nitrates are exported. The main importers of NH4NO3 are Latin America and Western Europe.
