Lithopone market in CIS

Lithopone is a mixture of barium sulphate (BaSO4) with zinc sulfide (ZnS). In industry it is used as a white pigment. Lithopone is not produced in Russia, as in other CIS countries. The demand is met entirely by imports. Last year 242 tonnes of pigment was imported to Russia that is 2.4 times less than in 2008. Main lithopone supplier with a share of 83% was German company Sachtleben Chemie. Lithopone deliveries to Ukraine are practically disappeared. Last year were imported only 6 tonnes of this product.
