Prilled and granulated urea: properties and perspectives

Granulated urea is highly valued in the industrial and agricultural sectors. There are several ways to produce it. First of all, it is a dispersion of a melt amidst gas (air) with its further solidification, rolling in granulating drums and plates, as well as granulation in a fluid-bed.
Prilling in towers and the granulation in the fluid-bed are nowadays the most popular methods used to produce urea all over the world.
The modern prilling tower designed by NIIK JSC is a reliable and easy-to-use engineering construction. The most well-known granulated urea production units have been built by companies Stamicarbon (the Netherlands), TES (Japan).
