Ammonia Production in the World and CIS

Ammonia is one of the key products of the chemical industry. Its main application is the manufacture of mineral fertilisers (urea, ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulphate, ammonium phosphates). Annual global NH3 output is currently more than 150m tonnes. A bulk of produced ammonia is consumed at the domestic markets. CIS with a share of 14.3% occupies the second places in the world ammonia production. Russia and Ukraine are the biggest ammonia manufacturers throughout the CIS. In 2008 NH3 production in the CIS countries came to 21.7m tonnes. Every year nearly one third of produced ammonia is exported.
