Production and Market of Phenol-Formaldehyde Resins in Russia![]() Phenol-formaldehyde resins are obtained by polycondensation of phenols with formaldehyde or its derivatives. PF resins have widespread application as adhesives in production of composite materials based on wood, paper and fabrics. Production of PF resins in Russia develops quickly due to permanently growing demand from the consuming branches. In 2008 the output volume amounted to 123,900 tonnes. Today approximately 25 enterprises in Russia produce phenol-formaldehyde resins. The largest producers are Uralchimplast JSC, FSE Zavod imeni Ya.M.Sverdlova, Metadynea CJSC, Karbolit JSC, Tyumen Plastics Plant CJSC, and also Tokem Ltd. About 25% of Russian PFR market is occupied by imports.
