Nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR, nitrile rubber) is the product of copolymerisation of butadiene and acrylonitrile. It is the most mass rubber of a special purpose. Last year 550,000 tonnes of NBR were produced in the world, among them 45,800 tonnes were manufactured in Russia. Russia is the only manufacturer of nitrile rubber in the CIS. The production of NBR is occupied by three companies: Krasnoyarsk Synthetic Rubbers Plant JSC (Krasnoyarsk), Voronezhsintezkauchuk JSC (Voronezh), and Omsky Kautchuk JSC (Omsk). In the experimental scale it is also produced by Synthetic Rubber Research Institute, Voronezh branch. Russia produces all types of the nitrile butadiene rubber, except hydrogenated, cross-linked rubber and NBR, filled with plasticizer on the release phase.
