Dye Production in the CIS

     The Russian and Ukrainian markets of dyes and bleaching agents are dominated by suppliers from Western Europe and India. During the past several years, the weak demand for domestic dyestuff has made a number of large Russian and Ukrainian companies move away from their core business or shut down their manufacturing capacities. WTO membership may only escalate business competition in the Russian and Ukrainian markets. In this context, the outlook for aniline dye manufacturing in the post-Soviet countries seems to be rather bleak.
      The article thoroughly analyses dye production and markets in Russia and Ukraine and reviews operations of such domestic dye manufacturers as Pigment JSC, Krasitel JSC, Aniline Dye Plant JSC, Beraton, Khimprom JSC (Novocheboksarsk), Zavolzhsk Chemical Plant JSC, and others.
